Day 3 Dante Festival Yorkshire Cup day
19th May 2017
The last day of the Dante Festival 2017 saw The Queen's horse Dartmouth win the Yorkshire Cup. Trained by Sir Michael Stoute and ridden by Ryan Moore it won out in a tightly contested race that split the field across the track.

Dante Festival Thursday 18 May

Day 2 of the Dante festival brought the sunshine and a large crowd to see some top quality races. The feature race of the festival The Betfred Dante Stakes saw the Yorkshire's yard of Mark Johnston taking the honours with Permian, owned by Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum and ridden by Franny Norton.

2017 Dante Festival Season Opener
17th May 2017
17th May marked the opening day of flat racing at York. Persistent rain fell for much of the day but the crowd were treated to some high quality racing. Tasleet owned by Hamdan Al Maktoum trained by William Haggas and ridden by Jim Crowley was a convincing winner of the Duke of York Clipper Logistics Stakes.

Frankie Dettori and John Gosden then made it a hat trick of wins in The Tattersalls Musidora Stakes with a strong performance on Shutter Speed. To see pictures from these races and all the action from the day click here..
Season Finale - The Coral Sprint Trophy
08th October 2016
The last days racing of the season drew a large crowd on the Knavesmire. They were rewarded with a fine days racing including the feature race Coral Sprint Trophy. Intisaab took the honours in that race, for owner Mr Stuart Graham, trained by David O'Meara and ridden by Shelley Birkett. The band of The Coldstream Guards brought the season to a fitting end on the lawn of the parade ring bringing the curtain down on another hugely enjoyable and successful season of racing at York.

Contryside Raceday Friday 7th October 2016
07th October 2016
Falconery, Sheepdogs, Ducks and Geese and a country market returned for the ever popular Countryside Raceday at York. On the track Calvinist won the feature handicap in the 3.25 StanJames.com Stakes. Trained by Brian Meehan and ridden by Kieren Fox he narrowly edged out Master Blueyes in a keenly fought contest.

Ebor Festival - Saturday 20th August

The last day of the Welcome to Yorkshire Ebor Festival saw Heartbreak City trained by A.J Martin and ridden by Adam McNamara win the prestigious Betfred Ebor Heritage Handicap.

Paul Mulrennan rode Mecca's Angela to a second consecutive Victory in the Group 1 Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes. Mecca's Angel trained by Michael Dods of Darlington, was simply too fast over 5 furlongs for her rivals like the favourite Limato.

Ebor Festival Day two featuring the Darley Yorkshire Oak

Day two (Ladies Day) at the Ebor Festival the knavesmire was awash with high fashion and some top class racing. The days highlight being the Group 1 Darley Yorkshire Oaks, with the honours being taken by Seventh Heaven.

Welcome to Yorkshire Ebor Festival
17th August 2016
The opening day of York's premier meet saw Postponed win the Juddmonte International Group 1.The 15-8 favourite trained by Roger Varian and ridden by Andrea Atzeni took top honours from Highland Reel with Mutakayyef finishing third.

Macmillan Charity Raceday
11th June 2016
Nearly 27,000 racegoers on the Knavesmire helped raise in excess of £450,000 towards a record breaking Macmillan Charity Raceday. An exhilarating days entertainment saw Emily Easterby take her first win in the saddle when lifting the Queen Mothers Cup on Snoano.


Mr Lupton ridden by Jamie Spencer and trained by Richard Fahey won the 888sport Charity Sprint.


The day finished with the charity riders taking to the course in The Best Western Hotels & Macmillan Ride of Their Lives.

A truly memorable experience for all especially for Ruth Carr on Dubai Dynamo who went on to win the race.

Frankie Detttori continues his fine start to the season on the Knavesmire riding Wings of Desire to victory in The Betfred Dante Stakes. Owned by Lady Bamford and trained by John Gosden of Newmarket; Wings of Desire saw off a strong challenge by Aiden O'Brien's Deauville ridden by Ryan Moore.

The opening day of the 2016 season at York kicked off in fine style with Frankie Dettori claiming a treble of winners, including The Duke of York Clipper Stakes, and The Tattersalls Musidora. He duly entertained onlookers with three of his trademark flying dismounts. The Duke of York himself made the presentations for his race and with Camilla Parker Bowles present the racecourse was treated to a proper Royal day of racing.
